invicta group history

Invicta Bakeware celebrated a century of business in 2012. Pictured (left to right) are Vanessa Boyes (Sales Office Manager), John Waddington (Managing Director) and Steve Bielby (Work Manager) – who between them have 85 years’ service.

Our parent company – Invicta Bakeware Ltd – has a manufacturing pedigree that goes back over a century. In fact, it celebrated its 100th birthday in 2012.

Although Invicta is one of the market leaders – with a strong reputation for outstanding quality, value and service – the company has never stood still or rested on its laurels. It responds readily and enthusiastically to customer requirements and the changing needs of the food processing and production industries. This is one of the reasons that it launched Food Industry Supplies; as a separate division specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of plastic and associated products.

The new plastic range perfectly complements the traditional bakeware and handling equipment production that has been at the heart of the business since its formation in 1912 – and which, in time, was bought by one of its staff – Peter Jones. The company then became incorporated in Leeds as the Invicta Sheet Metal Company in 1925, with the last member of the Jones dynasty retiring as recently as 2010.

By this time the company had moved further north to Pickering in the North York Moors and the new Managing Director, John Waddington, (who has been with Invicta since 1978) took the opportunity of bringing on board Chris Newton as Divisional Manager, to develop a complementary plastics side to the existing bakery equipment business.

Already widely known and highly regarded within the sector, ex-baker Chris has for many years been involved with storage and handling solutions encompassing moulded plastic products and associated equipment, predominantly in the baking and food processing arena.

Although the bakery market remains one of our key sectors, we also serve the wider catering and food processing industries – combining the skilled craftsmanship that has been nurtured over the last century with innovative design and development that reflects advances in modern manufacturing processes and technology.

As a company, we are proud of our heritage and are committed to continuing investment and development. As a result of this, you can be sure that Invicta Bakeware and Food Industry Supplies will move forward together into the next 100 years of business with the customer as our primary focus.
